Congratulations to our partner, the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, which today launched a new report, “Women Entrepreneurs in Mobile Retail Channels: Empowering Women, Driving Growth.”  This latest endeavor is another example of the foundation’s commitment to providing insight into how the mobile communications industry can benefit women entrepreneurs in emerging markets.

“If we are able to reach more women with mobile technology,” Blair told ICRW earlier this year, “it will bring valuable health benefits, education and increased income opportunities.”

We couldn’t agree more.

ICRW is also contributing to research about women entrepreneurs and the information and communications technology (ICT) field. Most recently, we collaborated with the Cherie Blair Foundation to examine how technologies such as mobile phones, the Internet and computers are changing economic opportunities for low-income women in India.

We’re putting the final touches on that ICT report – to be released in early 2012 – which builds upon our existing work that analyzes how innovation and technology can economically empower the world’s women.
