WGCD Learning Cluster
Agency is critical to empowerment, yet questions remain about how best to foster adolescent girls’ agency. WGCD projects are using a variety of approaches to increase agency: some are seeking to increase resources or shift institutional structures, while others intervene directly on leadership, collective action and decision-making, or use a combined approach.
Learning Questions:
How can programs foster agency in adolescent girls?
- What components of girl-focused programming contribute to increased agency?
- What are the effects of deliberately addressing gender norms in programs seeking to increase adolescent girls’ agency?
- How do contextual factors in the enabling environment influence interventions to increase adolescent girls’ agency?
