Tara Abrahams & Jacqueline Asiimwe to join ICRW’s Board

The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) announces the appointment of Tara Abrahams, managing director at Arabella Advisors, and Jacqueline Asiimwe, CEO of CivSource Africa, to the organization’s Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to welcome two incredibly talented and visionary women dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment,” said ICRW President Sarah Degnan Kambou. “Tara and Jacqueline bring with them unique skill sets, rich experience and deeply insightful perspectives that will further ICRW’s mission and augment the support we receive from our current Board members.”

Tara Abrahams leads Arabella’s work with corporate partners and is focused on a range of issues, from education to health care to the environment, with special interest in the advancement of women and girls. Tara previously served as managing director of VOW, an initiative created to end child marriage globally. As deputy director and president of Girl Rising, she worked on girls’ education and women’s empowerment, and she served as executive director of The Girl Project at Glamour. Tara has also advised organizations like Girls Who Code and the Girls Opportunity Alliance at the Obama Foundation. Jacqueline Asiimwe is a Ugandan and a lawyer trained in the United States, with a long list of accomplishments in leadership, management, law and policy formulation, as well as advocacy and training. Leading CivSource Africa, Jacqueline brings 25 years’of work experience, 15 of which have been in leadership positions. She has expertise in policy research and analysis, lobbying and advocacy on human rights, governance, democratization and women’s rights. Jacqueline is the current Chair of the ICRW Uganda Board and will be a real asset to the global Board.
