Ann Warner

Ann Warner (she/her) is the Interim CEO of the International Center for Research on Women. She has more than two decades of experience leading organizations and advocating for the rights and empowerment of women, girls, and gender-expansive people around the world. From 2015 to 2023, Ann was the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN), a non-profit organization that is now one of the leading gender justice advocacy organizations in the Southern United States. Under Ann’s leadership, WREN built a vibrant movement for gender justice and led multiple successful advocacy campaigns for reproductive rights, contraceptive access, paid leave, and prevention of discrimination against pregnant workers.

From 2008 to 2015, Ann held multiple leadership positions at the International Center for Research on Women. She led research projects on child marriage in Kenya and India, consulted with implementing partners on how to address child marriage in their programs, and authored the study More Power to Her: How Empowering Girls Can Help End Child Marriage. She has worked extensively with policymakers and coalition partners at the local, state, national, and global levels to advocate for increased investments in empowering women and girls. Ann also served as the organization’s first Special Assistant to the President under Geeta Rao Gupta. Prior to joining ICRW, Ann conducted field research on violence against women and girls in Liberia in collaboration with Columbia University and the International Rescue Committee. She also led foundation fundraising for CARE USA.

Ann has a joint Master of International Affairs and Master of Public Health from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wellesley College.
