VITAL seeks to co-create knowledge alongside abortion rights activists and advocates to inform and bolster the abortion rights movements in the Americas. Abortion rights activists and proponents wherever they may be physically located share common cause – to liberate abortion rights and create the conditions in which all people can thrive.
Our process aims to foster cross-regional and cross-context learnings for practical application. Data collection is underway to gain insights from activists, academics, legal experts, artivists and people in adjacent movements to understand factors that have contributed to changes in abortion rights policy and the impact of these changes. We will explore whether and how effective tactics and strategies developed in one cultural, political and geographic context can be adapted and applied elsewhere. Iterative and relational, our research approach will build our understanding by sharing back initial research findings with the abortion rights community to surface new ideas and co-create new approaches to advance rights throughout both regions and beyond.

International Transgender Day of Visibility
International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is observed annually on March 31st to celebrate the lives and contributions of transgender and non-binary individuals while raising awareness about the discrimination they face.
The day was first celebrated in 2009, thanks to the efforts of transgender activist Rachel Crandall-Crocker, who sought to create a day that focused on the positive aspects of being transgender, rather than just the struggles.
TDOV serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the transgender community and aims to highlight the importance of visibility in combating stigma and fostering acceptance. It encourages allies to support transgender individuals and advocates for their rights, emphasizing that visibility can lead to greater understanding and inclusivity.
As we observe this important day, let us honor the achievements of transgender people, recognize the challenges they still face, and commit ourselves to creating a more equitable world for all.
