ICRW Director of Global Health, Youth and Development Suzanne Petroni spoke to BBC News about increasing rates of suicide among adolescent girls in Canada. Petroni spoke about how rampant sexism, harmful gender norms and perceptions of girls not being valued as anything other than a wife and a mother could be contributing to increased rates of suicide for girls worldwide.
