Aapta Garg (she/her) is a senior policy manager based in ICRW’s US office. She is a gender equality and international development expert with over 15 years of experience in design, implementation, project management, and advocacy. Her expertise spans a range of interconnected areas, including gender equality, masculinities, gender-based violence, women’s economic empowerment and justice, unpaid care work, and cross-sectoral gender integration.
She has partnered with bilateral, multilateral, and private sector donors including USAID, P+G, and the Oak Foundation building capacity and promoting best practices and tools to advance gender equality globally. A seasoned coalition leader, she has co-chaired the Big Ideas Coalition, the Coalition to End Gender-based Violence Globally, and the Coalition for Women’s Economic Empowerment and Equality, fostering collaborative, locally driven partnerships to achieve equality outcomes.
Her skill set encompasses advocacy, program management, project design and coordination, capacity building, curriculum development, and partnership management. Aapta holds an MA in International Development (focus on Gender and Development) from American University’s School of International Service and a BA in Political Science and Hispanic Studies from Vassar College.
