Impact evaluation: Choice for Change (C4C) in Kenya

Abortion, Adolescents and Youth, Family Planning

ICRW is conducting an impact evaluation of the Choice for Change (C4C) program, which aims to increase contraceptive uptake among 15- to 19-year-old girls in Kenya, with a particular emphasis on long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods. This evaluation focuses on developing the evidence base around “what works” in demand generation and service delivery of contraception for adolescent girls, with an emphasis on identifying approaches that maximize effectiveness and impact in a scalable manner, and on providing a robust assessment of the impact of the program to increase informed choice. In close partnership with implementing organizations and a local research partner, ICRW developed a mixed-methods, multi-phase evaluation approach to evaluate the effect of the C4C project on acceptability and accessibility of modern family planning methods, including LARC methods, among adolescent girls, as well as the relative effectiveness of implementation approaches and channels for increasing uptake of contraception, specifically LARC methods.
