Yesterday, ICRW President Sarah Degnan Kambou, a member of the President’s Global Development Council, met with President Barack Obama. The Council met with the President to share its first set of recommendations to strengthen U.S. global development policies and practices.

The President reiterated his Administration’s commitment to promoting development as a vital component of the U.S. approach to national security. Further, he urged the Council to continue developing actionable recommendations on catalyzing private sector investment in development, leveraging American innovation, and increasing agricultural production and food security.

“It is an honor to serve on the President’s Global Development Council. As a Council member, my goal is to ensure that gender equality and women’s empowerment are systematically considered in the Council’s deliberations and integrated effectively into its recommendations,” said Kambou.
