The 2022 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) is being hosted in Pattaya City, Thailand from November 14-17. ICFP has convened the global development community, since 2009, around a shared vision of universal access to family planning.
This year, ICRW will be involved in a number of sessions and presentations, sharing posters, and engaged with experts from around the world.

November 15, 2:40pm (Location: PEACH Pattaya 17) | The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on SRH Among Vulnerable Populations. Speakers include ICRW’s Aditi Vyas, Save the Children-US’ Maria Tsolka, UNFPA Tajikistan Country Office’s Nargis Rakhimova, UNFPA’s Tamar Khomasuridze, and Rachel Dean. More info here.

November 16, 8:30-10:00am (Location: PEACH Pattaya 15) | As part of a plenary session, Committed to Progress: building a stronger family planning movement, grounded in rights, ICRW Africa Director Evelyne Opondo will be moderating a conversation entitled “Building a movement for all, grounded in human rights.” Other speakers include Dr. Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of UNFPA, and Latanya Mapp Frett, President & CEO, Global Fund for Women.
November 16, 10:10am (Location: PEACH Pre-function area) | Poster Session 4: Shifting Young Girls’ Sexual and Reproductive Health Attitudes, Beliefs, Norms, and Intentions in Burkina Faso: Evaluation Results from the (re)solve Project. Pathfinder International will present a poster of the (re)olve project’s evaluation work in Burkina Faso, which was led by ICRW researchers Laura Hinson and Emily Schaub, with support from partners Pathfinder, Impact Epilysis, REM Africa, and independent consultant Reshma Trasi.

November 16, 10:15am (Location: PEACH Pattaya 15) | ASHA’s knowledge and perception of injectable contraceptives and service delivery. This oral presentation focuses on learnings from a quantitative study and qualitative deep dive with ASHAs injectable users in Bihar, India. November 16, 7pm (Location: PEACH Pattaya 6) | Side event: Debate on How FP Programs Should Address the Increase in Use of Traditional Methods in Asia. Organized by: India Family Planning Monitoring Learning and Evaluation (India FP-MLE) Consortium, FP2030 Asia and the Pacific Hub. Description: In recent times, there has been an increase in the use of traditional method (TM) in India and many other Asian and SE Asian countries-with a notable exception of Philippines. Within India, several states have reported a substantial increase in TM use, and in many cases this increase has been more than the increase in modern method use between the two most recent rounds of Demographic and Health Survey. In view of this trend, it is important to understand the role of FP programs in expending efforts towards moving users from traditional method to modern method use. The Family Planning Monitoring Learning and Evaluation (FPMLE) consortium led by the Population Council in collaboration with FP2030 Asia and the Pacific Hub led by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) are organizing a debate on whether the already motivated TM users should be persuaded to shift to modern methods, or should these users be supported in their choices by helping them achieve their fertility goals through dissemination of accurate method information.
