Sharmishtha joined ICRW in June 2016 as a Technical Specialist – Gender, Youth & Development. She works primarily on adolescence and youth development, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights. At ICRW, she has contributed to the P.A.C.E Program for GAP Inc. and led a multi-site program review of adolescent empowerment projects in India. She also leads the evaluation of a human-centered design projects focused on family planning – the most recent being a project called (re)solve in Bangladesh and another entitled Couple Engage, which is being carried out in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, India.
Prior to joining ICRW, Sharmishtha managed the India site of the Emerging Mental Health Systems in LMICs (low- and middle-income countries), or EMERALD, project for several years, at the Public Health Foundation of India. She has worked as an independent research consultant with Save the Children (India), Public Health Resource Network, UNICEF and the World Health Organization.
