Nitya Agarwal is ICRW Asia’s Communications Coordinator with over 8 years of experience in strategic communications, writing, and multimedia. Prior to joining ICRW, Nitya worked as the Senior Public Information Associate at UNESCO’s New Delhi Cluster Office covering Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. At UNESCO, she developed a regional communication strategy for thematic verticals focusing on inclusive education, heritage conservation, sports for development, biosphere reserves, and community radio. Nitya was instrumental in the production of UNESCO’s flagship publication on the State of the Education Report in India in 2019 and Children with Disabilities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in 2020.
Nitya’s other past positions have included freelance writer at Femina (Worldwide Media), India; Multimedia Consultant at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) India; writer for The Great Indian Wedding Book, Hundred Communications Pvt Ltd; Features Writer – Intern at Tehelka Magazine; and Features Writer for One Online news in the Maldives.
Nitya has also been a Media and Advocacy Volunteer at NGO Urja Energy in Uttar Pradesh, India since 2019.
