Lauren Murphy

Lauren Murphy is the Global Director of ICRW Advisors, the advisory practice of ICRW. Lauren is an international development and gender equity specialist with experience in the public and private sectors promoting women’s entrepreneurship and women’s employment. During her career, Lauren has engaged in strategy design, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility programs, operations management, applied research, and impact evaluation with a range of partners, including multilaterals, investors, banks, global and national corporations, social enterprises, NGOs, and nonprofits.

Prior to joining ICRW, Lauren served as Director, Dignity of Women at Walmart.org, the philanthropic hub of Walmart. In this role, she focused on mitigating inequities for female workers in factories and farms in global supply chains and enhancing Walmart’s ESG efforts. Before Walmart, Lauren held various gender equity roles at the Inter-American Development Bank Group. At IDB Invest, the private sector arm of the IDB Group, she advised companies on corporate gender equality leadership initiatives and was the lead architect of strategic partnerships and research. At the Multilateral Investment Fund, Lauren created gender integration strategies and financial inclusion programs for women in investments and grants.

Lauren has field experience in Bangladesh and nearly every country in Latin America and the Caribbean, with extended experience in Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Paraguay. Lauren also serves on the board of Global Impact.

Education: Lauren earned a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and Bachelors of Arts degrees in Spanish and Political Science from the University of Florida.
