Akriti Jayant joined ICRW in March 2021 as an Editorial and Communications Associate with ICRW Asia. Akriti has seven years of experience working with agencies, corporations, nonprofits, small businesses and individuals. She is adept in galvanizing strategic partnerships, technical and policy advisory services and advocacy with governmental, inter-governmental and civil society partners. Additionally, she is also familiar with national youth policies and programmes, CEDAW, BPfA, gender equality initiatives and other human rights frameworks.
Prior to joining ICRW, Akriti served as Senior Editorial Supervisor/Visualizer at AdMe, Russia, Copyeditor at United Nations Women, Research Associate at Oxford University of International Development, Senior Sub-Editor and Community Manager for Hindustan Times, and English Newsreader with All India Radio, Prasar Bharati. She is also a published author.
Akriti’s education in Journalism and Sociology inculcated in her a keen sensitivity toward the gender status quo. She has done research work on gender-centric subjects and produced assignments such as: ‘Gynobalization- Women and their place in Globalization’ and ‘No woman’s land- A mockery of Matrabhoomi’. Her association with UN Women India, Hindustan Times and the Oxford University enabled her to hone research and communication skills by creating print and digital dialogues integrating gender considerations and C4D strategies. She provided editing services to ‘Training Manual for Trainers on Gender Responsive Governance’ authored by Sarojini Ganju Thakur (Chairperson, – H.P. Pvt Educ. Institutions Regulatory Commission) and Suneeta Dhar (Jagori) in her association with UN Women, India. She has also published a paper, ‘Internationalisation and Diversification of Indian Academic Careers,’ by the Department of International Development of Oxford University.
