ICRW’s Statement on Gaza
Media Contact
The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) is joining our partners from the other feminist, humanitarian and development organizations, UN agencies, think tanks, philanthropies and the people of Gaza to call for an immediate ceasefire.
We are outraged at the loss of life in Israel and in the occupied Palestinian territories and particularly concerned for the safety and wellbeing of women and girls under the current conditions. According to UNFPA, there are over 37,000 pregnant women at risk of life-threatening complications in Gaza. As an organization that defends, protects and advances rights and opportunities for women and girls, we call on governments to end the violence and direct immediate, life-saving assistance and health services to these groups who are in danger of death and disease.
We believe that every life — Palestinian and Israeli — should be valued and treated with humanity and that we can collectively create a path towards lasting peace for Palestinian and Israeli people. We must create a safe environment to enable organizations on the ground to act quickly before the health and humanitarian crisis expands and deepens.
As a research organization, we use information to convert insights into action. On the ground reporting has confirmed that the situation is dire and untenable. We have seen enough. We must act now to save lives and protect women and girls.
