ICRW's Child Marriage Exhibit

On May 19, 2004, ICRW unveiled its exhibit on child marriage—a companion piece to this on-line photo essay—at a special reception in the United States Capitol.

The exhibit, "Too Young to Wed: Child Marriage in Their Own Words," was created, along with the on-line essay, to educate about the causes and consequences of child marriage, and the most effective strategies for reducing its incidence.

The 27-foot-long exhibit, made up of nine, free-standing fabric panels, offers a striking visual display of photos, stories, personal reflections, and data on child marriage.

And, as does this on-line version, it provides an opportunity to witness child marriage from the inside, and to learn what is being done to improve the lives of child brides and prevent at-risk girls from marrying when they are too young to wed.
