Lyric Thompson receives Excellence in Advocacy award

lyric-eiaOn Thursday, November 10th, ICRW Director of Policy and Advocacy Lyric Thompson was recognized by Professional Women in Advocacy for her work advancing global adolescent policy. Thompson was given the Excellence in a Campaign for Women Serving Women award, for “…her multi-faceted efforts in leading a coalition of women’s rights advocacy campaign that worked with the White House, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, Peace Corps and the Millennial Challenge Corporation to launch the world’s first piece of foreign policy dedicated to the rights and empowerment of adolescent girls.”

ICRW President Sarah Degnan Kambou, on Thompson’s win: “Lyric’s passion for equality for women and girls is matched only by her determination and persistence in working to ensure that governments implement evidence-driven policies that serve their needs. We are incredibly proud of her work to shepherd the U.S. Adolescent Girl Strategy from concept to reality, and pleased to see this hard work recognized by other professional advocates.”

Lyric was among a group of three finalists that included Dana Singiser, vice president of public policy and government relations for Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
