Millennium Project

ICRW is working to ensure that the overall MDG framework and the specific plan for achieving the third goal — gender equality and the empowerment of women — is based on solid research and informed by women’s abilities and needs.

ICRW staff participated in the U.N. Millennium Project’s Task Force on Education and Gender Equality and led the writing of the task force report on gender: Taking Action: Achieving Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women.

ICRW has written three briefs about specific topics covered in the task force report:

(1) Violence Against Women Must Stop;

(2) Infrastructure Shortfalls Cost Poor Women Both Time and Opportunity; and

(3) Property Ownership for Women Enriches, Empowers and Protects.

To ensure that the recommendations of this report reach key policy and program audiences within the United States and abroad, ICRW continues to work through the Millennium Project and other efforts to disseminate its findings to maximize the impact of its work and recommendations.
