Research Associate

ICRW seeks an individual to provide support in its new business development efforts. Specifically, the Development Associate/Grant Writer will support new business opportunity processes, efforts and activities.

ICRW's Health and Development Unit seeks a Research Associate. The Health & Development Unit currently comprises work on sexual and reproductive health with a focus on HIV and AIDS, gender-based violence, gender equity, maternal health and nutrition. This position is based in ICRW's New Delhi office and requires travel to field area.

In this role, you will provide substantial research, analysis and documentation assistance the H&D team.

Primary Duties:

  • Participate in study design that includes selecting appropriate methodology, powering studies, creating sampling frames, developing survey instruments, data organization, management and entry protocols and developing data analysis plan
  • Oversee data entry and analysis, interpretation of data and applications/implications of findings
  • Discuss findings with team members to evaluate validity of findings, prepare reports for presentation to partners or for further research activities and intervention design; answer questions on research design from partners, justify research methodology as needed, present findings persuasively to various audiences
  • Work on process documentation, literature review and compile a resource-bank of background and support materials for project implementation

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Post graduate degree in social sciences or public health.
  • 3 years experience in research, monitoring, evaluation and program in the areas of HIV and AIDS, gender, sexuality and community mobilization.
  • Experience in community-based research and field based programs with expertise in tools development, collecting and analyzing qualitative & quantitative data and documentation
  • Proficiency in MS-Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet applications. Familiarity with statistical packages like SPSS and AtlasTi is mandatory
  • Must be willing to undertake field visits and travel
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Hindi. proficiency in Telugu desirable
  • Must have knowledge of standard reference/information sources and library skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a team
