Monitoring and Evaluation Intern

The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) is an organization comprised of international development professionals – researchers, policy specialists and program managers committed to the creation and sharing of the needed tools, approaches and techniques that will serve as catalysts for change for women worldwide.  ICRW currently seeks a Monitoring and Evaluation Intern.

Primary Duties:

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Internship will last 2-3 months. The Intern will be responsible for providing general support to senior M&E staff on compiling an assessment of viable evaluation approaches for a corporate partner’s large scale program on empowering women through business education. This project includes completing a literature search; interviewing the corporate partner in order to review and classify the various aspects of the program as it is being implemented; developing instruments for interviewing a range of experts and stakeholders on synchronization between program implementation and impact evaluation options; creating a synthesis and analytical presentation of the aforementioned information to develop recommendations regarding potential approaches and methodologies for impact evaluation options. The Intern will also support senior M&E staff on developing an M&E framework and guidelines for a corporate partners’ grants program on women’s economic advancement. This may include developing, packaging and copying PowerPoints and other materials for workshops, documentation of project activities and deliverables and related project research and support. Finally, the Intern will provide support in developing a training workshop for international attendees on the basic principles and techniques of performance monitoring to be held in June.  This includes researching, reviewing, consolidating and organizing materials and resources internal to ICRW as well as high quality external resources to help develop an appropriate curriculum for the 3 day workshop that helps the attendees to undertake such activities as running focus groups, administering surveys, extracting data from administrative forms, entering data and maintaining a database, and analyzing and interpreting data.

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Our ideal candidate will have a Master’s or be an MA candidate with a background in economics and knowledge of M&E.
  • Familiarity with enterprise development is also highly favorable.
  • ICRW offers a collegial and stimulating work environment, challenging, innovative and meaningful development projects and the opportunity to work with professionals who are well-regarded in their fields of expertise.

This is a paid internship.
