Putting Women at the Center of Maternal Health Care

Women Deliver 2010, "Delivering solutions for girls and women," will focus on political, economic, social/cultural and technological solutions to achieve Millennium Development Goal 5 to improve maternal health.

ICRW will participate in Women Deliver 2010, including a panel discussion, "Putting Women at the Center of Maternal Health Care: Addressing Poverty and Gender Inequality as Barriers to Utilization." This panel highlights findings from a background paper prepared by ICRW for the conference that focuses on the ways in which financial and gender-related barriers impede the utilization of maternal health care services, and how these barriers can be addressed through evidenced-based programs and policies. The panel also features examples of field programs that have improved utilization by addressing women’s disempowerment and/or poverty.
