ICRW will hold ”Encouraging Gender Equality,” a two-day meeting to share evidence emerging from its Gender Equity Movement in Schools (GEMS) program, which works with boys and girls in Mumbai municipal schools to promote gender equality and transform attitudes about violence. The gathering also will provide an opportunity to explore with key stakeholders, including education authorities and participating teachers, the possibility of institutionalizing GEMS in Mumbai. ICRW will release at the event a research brief on GEMS, the program’s training manual and the GEMS Diary used by students in schools as well as an outline of how ICRW plans to scale up the program.
The meeting is organized by ICRW and its local partners, Committee of Resource Organizations for Literacy (CORO) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), in collaboration with Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan. The event is not open to the public.
